The 46th SBA Annual General Meeting
Saturday 24th April 2018
The Chairman and Committee invite members to the 47th SBA Annual General Meeting to be held on March 24th 2018 once again at the Think Tank in the Birmingham Science Museum, Millenium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham B4 7XG. This venue provides excellent facilities and diversions for another stimulating AGM and social event. We will have exclusive use of the conference venue.
The Think Tank (http://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/thinktank/visit) is in central Birmingham. It has its own car parking (use this postcode B4 7AP) and is within 15 minutes walk of New Street Station. The event as many know is far more than just an AGM - we aim to provide a stimulating day for members and partners - so read on …
What happens at the AGM?
SBA Annual General Meetings are always enjoyable and often fascinating. At our 47th:
· in the morning from 9am we will have time to meet friends, buy from the SBA clothes shop, enter pictures in the photographic competition, buy & sell steamboat related bits and pieces at the auction (from 10:45am). See the information on the website for the auction procedure. To speed up the paperwork on the day please say if you intend to bid and/or to put stuff in the auction. Members wishing to trade small bits and bobs are very welcome to take a table as a sales stand.
· we will have time to visit the Think Tank itself (Birmingham Science Museum and the Power House including steam engines), and for a small charge enjoy the Planetarium. For non-steaming spouses, the Bull Ring shopping centre is within 10 minutes walk.

· the AGM starts at 2pm (agenda attached). Although it is the core reason for the event, we will keep it short and effective. This year the current Chairman, Roger Heise, stands down. A new chairman is to be elected as are several Members of the Committee.
· after the AGM the President will make presentations to trophy and photo competition winners.
· after the AGM the President will make presentations to trophy and photo competition winners. As ever there will be an afternoon of talks, presentations and a discussion forum, the details of which are still in preparation.
· after the official proceedings finish there will be further time to chat and have a drink; our dinner at 6.30pm provides an excellent opportunity to sit down with friends and still leave time to get home.
